Although Sparta technically won, the war left all Greek city-states weakened. Resources were drained, trust destroyed, and political power shifted. The collapse opened the door for Macedonia to rise under Philip II and Alexander the Great.

The war also provides lasting lessons on democracy, power, and human behavior. Thucydides’ writings remain central to understanding leadership, ambition, and fear in politics.
